How we handle your details
What we collect
What you type into the registration form: your name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, where in the world you are, the courses that interest you, and anything you choose to tell us about your Sanskrit so far. The form also notes which page you came from and whether you were shown rupees or dollars, so that we answer you about the right price, and it times how long the form took to fill in, which is how we tell a person from a robot.
What we use it for
To write back to you about a place, to fix a lecture hour that suits your timezone, and — once you are enrolled — to send course material. Your phone and WhatsApp number are used for course material and nothing else.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent or pass your details to anyone. We do not add you to marketing lists. We do not track you around the internet; this site sets no advertising cookies and runs no analytics script. Every font, image and flag on these pages is served from this site itself, so visiting it tells no other company anything about you. The only thing kept in your browser is which currency you last chose.
Where it goes
Your answers are first written to the Pathshala’s own database, which sits on Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, and then emailed to admin@sanskritvedanta.org, where they are read by Neelakanth Phadke. Storing them first is deliberate: it means an email that fails to send cannot lose your enquiry. That mailbox is hosted by Zoho. Nobody outside the Pathshala reads either. Enrolment records are kept for as long as you are a student and for our own accounts afterwards.
What the web server records
Like any website, ours keeps server logs: the network address a request came from, the page asked for, the time, and what your browser says it is. We use them only to count visits and to notice abuse, they are deleted after thirty days, and they are never matched up with your registration. To stop robots hammering the form we also keep a scrambled one-way fingerprint of the requesting address for one hour — it cannot be turned back into an address, and it is never stored alongside your details.
Removing your details
Write to admin@sanskritvedanta.org and ask, and we will delete what we hold, except anything we must keep for tax records.
